Canadian CPP Contribution: what the Wage101 calculator includes

Calculate annual employee and matching employer CPP and CPP2 contributions for Canada outside Quebec.

Four terms define the annual CPP calculation

Plain-language 2026 CPP terms
Term2026 amountRole in this model
YBECA$3,500Basic exemption below the base CPP contributory band
YMPECA$74,600Top of the base CPP band and start of CPP2
YAMPECA$85,000Top of the CPP2 earnings band
CPP24% employee rateSecond contribution layer between YMPE and YAMPE

Base CPP and CPP2 remain separate

Base CPP uses pensionable earnings above the YBE and through the YMPE. CPP2 begins only above the YMPE and stops adding contributory earnings at the YAMPE, so the two lines can change differently as annual earnings rise.

Enter an annual outside-Quebec earnings amount

The input is annual pensionable earnings for employment in Canada outside Quebec. The model does not infer pensionability, convert one payslip into an annual record, or subtract amounts already withheld.

Because this is annual arithmetic, a single payslip or year-to-date deduction can differ due to payroll-period treatment, prior deductions, proration, or circumstances the model excludes. The employer-match line is part of the bounded annual result, not extra employee take-home pay.

The Quebec and payroll boundaries are strict

Do not use this result for Quebec employment: QPP and QPP2 are different systems and are unsupported here. EI, federal and provincial income tax, and complete payroll are also outside the result.

  • No pay-period deduction accuracy or reconciliation of prior deductions.
  • No age, proration, or contribution start-and-stop rules.
  • No multiple-employer or self-employment calculation.
  • No pension entitlement, benefit forecast, take-home pay, or personalised advice.
  • Review the current CRA sources and methodology before using figures for another calendar year.
