Money inputs and outputs use CAD. Pay, time, benefits and work-related costs use the units stated beside each input.

2. Worked example

Input assumptions

Calculate annual CPP and CPP2 on CA$80,000 of pensionable earnings.

Calculation and outputs

Example

Calculate annual CPP and CPP2 on CA$80,000 of pensionable earnings.

Total employee CPP and CPP2
4,446.45 currency units
Employee CPP
4,230.45 currency units
Employee CPP2
216.00 currency units
Matching employer CPP and CPP2
4,446.45 currency units
CPP2 contributory earnings
5,400.00 currency units

Base CPP, CPP2 and matching employer contributions remain separate.

Interpretation

Use the result as annual CPP/CPP2 outside Quebec, not full payroll or take-home pay.

3. Validation and boundary checks

  • Annual pensionable earnings are finite, non-negative and at most CA$100 million.
  • The jurisdiction must be explicitly confirmed before calculation.
  • Quebec returns unsupported_basis in the policy engine.

4. Assumptions and source classification

  • The entered amount is annual pensionable earnings.
  • The official 2026 thresholds, rates and caps are fixed and are not editable assumptions.

Official dependencies used by this calculator are captured in the Wage101 evidence register and version-acknowledged in this page history. User-entered work and pay assumptions remain separate from those official inputs.

5. Limitations

  • Quebec QPP/QPP2 is not supported because the required Revenu Quรฉbec source remains blocked.
  • EI, federal and provincial income tax, payroll-period deductions and take-home pay are excluded.
  • This is annual arithmetic and does not reconcile deductions already made by an employer.

This is educational decision support, not personalised tax, legal, financial or career advice. Check how the rules that apply in Canada treat your work and pay circumstances, and seek qualified advice where appropriate.

6. Update and evidence policy

Registered family-level suites test formula invariants and example reconciliation; the release ledger records that coverage without claiming a separate oracle for every line of public copy. Registered official sources block dependent public workflows when their evidence or version acknowledgement is unavailable or invalid. Work and pay inputs remain user-supplied because they vary by person, job and contract.
