Ireland PAYE Income Tax for 2026: what the calculator includes

Estimate bounded 2026 Irish PAYE income tax using reviewed Revenue bands and credits.

This is annual Income Tax, not a complete PAYE payroll result

The calculator uses an annual band-and-credit model to make the Income Tax component inspectable. Irish payroll can also involve USC, PRSI, Revenue Payroll Notification data and cumulative, Week 1 or emergency treatment. None of those branches is silently estimated here.

What the bounded Ireland PAYE result includes and excludes
ComponentWage101 treatmentWhat to do
Annual PAYE Income TaxCalculated from supported taxable pay, an entered band and entered creditsUse this article and calculator
USCNot includedUse the separate standard-USC calculator only when that branch applies
PRSINot calculatedCheck official payroll records; Wage101 has no approved full-PRSI branch
RPN and pay-period basisCumulative, Week 1/Month 1 and emergency treatment excludedUse the current Revenue record or payroll calculation
Take-home payNot available by adding this result to unsupported estimatesDo not label the output a payslip or take-home figure

Enter confirmed annual values rather than asking the tool to infer them

The calculator does not determine marital status, allocate bands between people or jobs, or decide which credits apply. The €44,000 band and €4,000 credits in the fixture illustrate the calculator path; they are not universal defaults for every PAYE employee.

  • Annual gross PAYE employment income for the 2026 calendar year.
  • Only an employee pension contribution already confirmed as eligible for Income Tax relief.
  • Age, used solely for the supported pension-relief percentage limit.
  • The applicable annual standard-rate band from the reader’s own circumstances and records.
  • Confirmed annual Income Tax credits, without assuming an entitlement from the example.

Follow the calculation from pension relief to credits

The calculator first limits the eligible employee pension contribution by the Revenue age-related percentage and the €115,000 earnings ceiling. It subtracts the supported relievable amount from gross pay, taxes income inside the entered band at 20% and the balance at 40%, then caps applied credits at gross Income Tax.

Employee pension contributions in this model can reduce the Income Tax basis only. They do not reduce USC or PRSI, and the calculator does not decide whether a contribution qualifies.

€50,000 produces €7,200 after the entered credits

The production fixture uses €50,000 annual gross PAYE income, no pension contribution, age 32, a €44,000 annual standard-rate band and €4,000 of annual Income Tax credits.

PAYE Income Tax after credits€11,200 − €4,000€7,200

An annual estimate can differ from a payslip without either number being a typo

Revenue payroll is normally cumulative, so pay, tax credits and rate bands can accumulate from 1 January. Week 1 or Month 1 treats each pay period separately, while emergency treatment follows another branch. This calculator models none of those pay-period histories.

Use the result to understand annual band-and-credit arithmetic and test confirmed assumptions. Use the RPN, Tax Credit Certificate, payroll records and Revenue process for an actual deduction or refund question.

Stop before PAYE becomes an unsupported take-home estimate

  • Do not add an invented PRSI amount or quote a PRSI rate from this article.
  • Do not infer USC income or treatment from the PAYE input.
  • Do not promise payslip, cumulative, Week 1, emergency or refund accuracy.
  • Do not infer personal bands, credits, pension eligibility or marital status.
  • Recheck Revenue sources and the calculator methodology when the tax year changes.
