Money inputs and outputs use the currency selected in the scenario without changing the canonical methodology. Pay, time, benefits and work-related costs use the units stated beside each input.

2. Worked example

Input assumptions

Add 6,000 insurance, 3,500 retirement, 5,000 leave and 1,000 other replacement costs to 70,000 cash.

Calculation and outputs

Example

Add 6,000 insurance, 3,500 retirement, 5,000 leave and 1,000 other replacement costs to 70,000 cash.

Annual replacement cost
15,500.00 currency units
Monthly replacement cost
1,291.67 currency units
Required cash uplift
22.1%
Cash plus replacement cost
85,500.00 currency units

Annual cost, monthly cost and cash uplift remain distinct.

Interpretation

Treat every replacement value as a user-sourced cost, not a benchmark.

3. Validation and boundary checks

  • Employee cash compensation is positive.
  • All replacement-cost inputs are finite and non-negative.
  • All figures use one annual basis.

4. Assumptions and source classification

  • Replacement costs are supplied by the user.
  • Each category is additive with no overlap.
  • Cash compensation is the selected comparison base.

This calculator has no current policy-data dependency. Its work and pay assumptions are user supplied. Registered family-level regression suites exercise the shared work-logic engine and worked-result reconciliation.

5. Limitations

  • No benefit benchmark, employer plan, tax treatment or jurisdiction rule is supplied.
  • Cost does not capture coverage quality or personal utility.
  • This does not determine contractor classification.

This is educational decision support, not personalised tax, legal, financial or career advice. Check the treatment of your circumstances under the rules that apply to you and seek qualified advice where appropriate.

6. Update and evidence policy

Registered family-level suites test formula invariants and example reconciliation; the release ledger records that coverage without claiming a separate oracle for every line of public copy. There is no official threshold or benchmark to refresh for this calculator. Work and pay inputs remain user-supplied because they vary by person, job and contract.
