3. Validation and boundary checks

  • Commute weeks stay between 1 and 53.
  • Rent, commute cost and time value are non-negative.
  • Both options use the same commute weeks and time value.

4. Assumptions and source classification

  • Rent stays constant for the annual comparison.
  • The same hourly time value applies to both commutes.
  • Only entered direct commute costs are included.

This calculator has no current policy-data dependency. Its work and pay assumptions are user supplied. Registered family-level regression suites exercise the shared work-logic engine and worked-result reconciliation.

5. Limitations

  • No local rent, transport, tax or cost-of-living dataset is applied.
  • Moving costs and housing quality are excluded.
  • Time value is subjective and not cash spending.

6. Update and evidence policy
