How to use the Shift Differential calculator

Percentage or amount per hour?

A percentage basis converts through the user-entered base hourly rate. At 25 per hour, a 10% differential becomes 2.50 per eligible hour. An amount basis of 2.50 per hour is already the addition, so it reaches the same result under the same eligible schedule.

That equivalence is a useful input check, not a claim that two employer offers have identical eligibility terms. Confirm the stated basis before comparing the numbers.

Test the rate and schedule separately

Changing the differential changes the extra amount earned on every eligible hour. Changing eligible weeks changes the number of hours receiving the same premium. These illustrative rows alter one input at a time and are not policy defaults.
