Singapore overtime pay: what the Wage101 calculator includes

Estimate overtime pay using confirmed eligible hours and the reviewed Singapore statutory rate.

Confirm Part 4 coverage before doing the arithmetic

The reviewed branch supports a workman doing manual labour with monthly basic salary of S$4,500 or less, or a covered non-workman with monthly basic salary of S$2,600 or less. Basic salary is not the same as gross salary: MOM excludes items such as overtime, bonuses, annual wage supplement and allowances from this threshold definition.

Part 4 does not cover managers or executives. Wage101 asks the user to confirm both the supported category and non-manager or non-executive status rather than trying to classify the job.

Supported Singapore Part 4 categories in this calculator
Confirmed categoryMonthly basic-salary thresholdCalculator treatment
WorkmanS$4,500 or lessUses the confirmed monthly basic rate when converting to the hourly basic rate.
Covered non-workmanS$2,600 or lessFails closed above the supported threshold rather than assuming Part 4 coverage.
Manager, executive or unconfirmed statusNot a supported branchNo statutory result is shown; employment classification requires separate review.

Keep the supported pay basis and hour record explicit

  • Confirm the worker is covered by Part 4 and is not a manager or executive.
  • Choose workman or non-workman and enter monthly basic salary, not total gross monthly pay.
  • Enter overtime hours for the salary period and overtime already worked earlier in the month.
  • Confirm an over-72-hour exemption only when an official exemption actually applies.
  • Use this branch only for the supported full-time monthly-rated 44-hour divisor.

Convert monthly basic salary before applying the multiplier

Hourly basic rate = 12 ร— monthly basic rate รท (52 ร— 44). Part 4 overtime pay = hourly basic rate ร— 1.5 ร— overtime hours in the salary period.

The calculator carries the unrounded hourly result into the multiplication and rounds the final overtime pay to cents. Rounding the hourly rate to S$15.73 first would not reproduce the exact S$236.01 fixture.

Stepcalculator valueWhy it is shown
Confirmed branchCovered workman; non-manager/non-executiveThe S$3,000 monthly basic rate is within the supported workman threshold.
Hourly basic rate12 ร— S$3,000 รท (52 ร— 44) = S$15.7342657343The unrounded intermediate is retained for the final calculation.
Overtime hourly basisS$15.7342657343 ร— 1.5The reviewed minimum multiplier applies only after coverage is confirmed.
Part 4 overtime payS$236.01 for 10 hoursThis is the final salary-period result after rounding to cents.
Monthly overtime total0 prior + 10 current = 10 hoursThe cumulative total remains below the 72-hour limit in this fixture.

Track the 72-hour monthly limit separately

The calculator adds current-period overtime to overtime already worked in the month. If the total exceeds 72 hours and no official exemption has been confirmed, it fails closed instead of producing a normal statutory estimate.

An exemption confirmation is an input, not a legal decision made by Wage101. Work on rest days or public holidays can involve separate rules and is not automatically represented by this overtime-only result.

What the Part 4 overtime estimate does not decide

  • No employee-category, manager/executive, Part 4 coverage or exemption adjudication.
  • No part-time, hourly-rated or daily-rated formula.
  • No rest-day pay, public-holiday pay, time off in lieu or shift premium.
  • No CPF, income tax or take-home-pay calculation.
  • No assumption that citizenship or SPR status determines this overtime branch.
