Market-neutral work and pay guide

How to use the Salary Sacrifice or Pre Tax Benefit Impact calculator

Compare cash and entered benefit value without applying official tax, payroll or benefit eligibility rules.

Build baseline and after-sacrifice cash on the same basis

The baseline applies the entered flat rate to the full gross amount. The alternative reduces gross pay by the entered sacrifice and applies that same rate to the reduced amount. Keeping the rate constant isolates the mechanical effect of the scenario.

The benefit value is added only after cash has been calculated. It is a value you assign, not an independently verified price or a cash payment.

Scenario components
ComponentCalculation roleWhat it does not establish
Gross payStarting cash amount for one periodScheme eligibility or applicable pay definition.
Sacrifice amountReduces taxable pay in this assumed modelActual payroll or tax treatment.

Work through the 5,000 and 500 default example

The calculator example uses 5,000 gross pay, a 500 sacrifice, a 30% entered flat rate and a benefit value of 500, all on one period basis.

Sensitivity questions
Input changedMechanical effectQuestion to answer outside the tool
Entered rateChanges the calculated tax differenceDoes this flat rate meaningfully represent the intended scenario?
Sacrifice amountChanges cash and the assumed taxable-pay reductionIs that amount permitted and affordable?
Benefit valueChanges total value but not cashWhat is the benefit actually worth to you?

Verify eligibility and real treatment separately

This Global scenario does not apply jurisdictional schemes, caps, minimum-pay rules, social insurance, student loans, pensions, fringe-benefit treatment or changes to other entitlements. A positive delta therefore cannot be called actual savings.

Confirm scheme availability, payroll treatment, tax effects and any effect on other pay or benefits using the relevant employer and official sources before acting.
